Wegman's Liquor License

Seems the big news across the state is a recent decision to provide liquor licenses to Wegmans.

The Morning Call reports (read it here) the approval to sell beer was based on the Wegman's Cafe, which allowed it to apply for a restaurant license. This type of license means you can purchase up to two six packs for carry-out.

The article also notes that the Malt Beverage Distributors Association is challenging the ruling.

Articles from newspapers in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Wilkes-Barre and Pittsburgh all addressed the same.

It will be interesting to see if this is a one-time event or if it opens the doors to allowing grocery stores to sell beer and wine as they do in many other states.

It's about time this state came out of the dark ages. Now, if we can only get rid of the State Store system we will have some real progress.

If you bring up this topic with people in other states, they laugh their backsides off.
