Spring Sports Update

There seems to be an on-going mumble and growl about Nazareth not being big enough to compete with other AAAA schools in the Lehigh Valley Conference. Most point to the struggles of football and boys basketball. Clearly these are high visibility sports, but at the same time most other sports have done very well.

In looking at the news today, seasons are coming to an end and league championships are taking place, Nazareth's student-athletes are representing themselves and the community rather well.
  • Softball - Brooke Hull tied a school record for victories, the team has won 15 straight, and they've clinched the Northampton Division Title (read the article here)
  • Soccer - 17-1 on the season and play Emmaus for the third straight year for the conference title on Thursday. Nazareth defeated Emmaus during the season 3-0, the Hornets first conference loss in years (read the article here)
  • Volleyball - Kyle Steiger was named the Player of the Week by the Express-Times as he had a strong performance in the teams 4-0 week which included wins over defending District Champion Liberty (read the article here)
  • Track and field at J. Birney Crum Stadium, Nazareth's girls are in 3rd after day one (read the article here)
  • Baseball - with a win over Easton this week, Nazareth is 9-9 and needs one win to earn a spot in the post-season (read the article here)
Congratulations to all and best of luck throughout the rest of the season!
