The Express-Times has an article from Monday's Board Meeting exclusively focused on the approval of the road between the MS and HS, which was last month voted down (read it here).
The price tag was dropped $200,000 and could go lower if Hercules cement is able to provide fill (according to the article they have plenty, but shipping it is the issue).
Everyone on the board voted yes except for Hensley who was absent and Maher.

Anyone seen a breakdown of class sizes for the district?
These are usually provided at the August board meetings but I didn't see them in the agenda or minutes that are posted on the districts website.
I am interested in what class sizes look like given the "state of the union"---- sort to speak.
They added teachers to Shafer so class sizes came down to be in alignment with Lower and Bushkill.
The impact of having five per grade in many cases instead of four, is that they are only having four classes of specials (art, music, gym etc). So in each grade with five classes, one of the five is split up into the other four classes.
For example, if teachers are A, B, C, D, and E. E's class will send five or six students to A, B, C, and D when it is time for specials.
I know two grades from speaking with people where this is the case.
JMO & Ross-
They were handed out at the last meeting. Shafer has added kids and teachers but unfortunately, the 3rd grade classes are all over the target numbers by 2 kids.
It might not seem like a lot, but I remember a similiar situation at Bushkill (5th grade, last year I believe) that was quickly remedied before classes start. Again, further evidence of the lack of fairness (or should I say better representation?) between the elementary schools.
Of course now that classes have started, it's more disruptive to add a teacher and break-up classes. The admin and board's comments at the meeting regarding this situation was to kind of joke "we'll just tell everyone we're closed".
the same 3rd grade at Shafer this year that in 1st grade had 25 % more per class than Bushkill---both 1st grades had 94 kids, Shafer had 4 classes Bushkill had 5 classes
