Sunshine Law part II

In the Wednesday, July 12th, edition of the Express-Times Courtney Lomax writes about the Sunshine Law as it related to my question at Monday's workshop.

In it she wrote:

Teri Henning, media law counsel for the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, said the type of committee doesn't make a difference.

"What matters is the function," Henning said.

If council names a committee for the purpose of doing a job, the committee meetings likely should be made public, Henning said. She said she couldn't comment on the specific case."

For me it goes back to the point that while it may be possible to interpret a way out of making certain meetings public, it is in the best interest of everyone to open all meetings unless they are clearly within the realm of exemption.
